General FAQs

The first step is to purchase your No-Risk Impression Kit.

Your No-Risk Impression Kit. ($49.95) is the only thing you’ll need to purchase today. There is no obligation to purchase aligner treatment after submitting your impression kit. After your doctor has reviewed your impressions you can purchase the All-Day Aligner Plan ($1399) or the At-Night Aligner Plan ($1799).

Some patients prefer the All-Day plan to get their treatment completed as quickly as possible while others prefer the convenience of the At-Night plan.

You must choose All-Day or At-Night aligners first. Then after your UpSmiles dentist/orthodontist reviews your impressions and creates a treatment plan the total anticipated treatment time will be made available to you. If you approve the treatment plan you can then either pay in full or use a payment plan offered through Partial.ly.

After you send in your No-Risk Impression Kit your doctor/orthodontist will review your impressions to verify that you’re a candidate for treatment. We are able to treat most patients/conditions, but we’ll refund the cost of the impression kit should you not be a candidate. We need to review your impressions, photos, and questionnaire to make this determination.

UpSmiles treats mild to moderate cases. Patients that are not a candidate for aligners will be referred to an UpSmiles Dentist in your area.

The growing network of state-licensed dentists and orthodontists using the UpSmiles platform has several years of experience in aligners. Through our platform, they treat mild to moderate malocclusion, and they are licensed in the states where the candidate resides. They use their own professional discretion and may require additional information from the patient via the UpSmiles platform before approving a candidate for treatment. UpSmiles and those doctors who use our tele-health platform comply with the practice of dentistry and tele-health based on the state laws that regulate their licensure.

Each candidate must confirm that they have visited their regular dentist within the past 6 months and that they will continue to see their regular dentist during treatment. This is to avoid any complications for starting aligner treatment. Ideal candidates must sign a consent form prior to beginning treatment. Any contra-indications will be reviewed by the doctor prior to approving the candidate for treatment.

Aligner Treatment FAQs

When you change to the next set of aligners (typically every week or two), your teeth gradually move into a straighter position. You will advance to the next set of aligners every two weeks, unless you are using OrthoPulse(R) as directed, in which case you will advance to the next step of aligners every one week.

  • Unlike traditional orthodontic braces, aligners allow you to keep your gums healthy.
  • Proven results and predictable tooth movement.
  • Better fit, better comfort, more hygienic than braces, and no food restrictions.
  • Effective for a wide variety of mild to moderate cases including those who have spaces between their teeth, crowding, teeth rotations, minor crossbites and minor deep bites.
  • Flexibility, removal of aligners whenever you want.

The treatment range is 2-10 months with most averaging as little as 3 months using OrthoPulse or 6 months without OrthoPulse. Ideal cases are those that require minor to moderate tooth movement. You must wear your aligners for approximately 20 hours per day to achieve results. Compliance is critical.

The dentists or orthodontists on our tele-health platform will evaluate your smile to determine if UpSmiles can achieve acceptable results prior to fabricating your aligners.

You are expected to continue to see our regular dentist as directed by them for routine dental care. You must be given a clean bill of dental health to proceeding with UpSmiles.

Impression Kit FAQs

After reviewing your dental impression, your UpSmiles dentist/orthodontist will review and share your customized treatment plan with you. We'll refund the cost of the impression kit if you're not a candidate, and there is no obligation or commitment to move forward if you are deemed a candidate.

Approximately 3-4 weeks from the time you approve and pay for the treatment.

Your impression kit includes a televisit with our staff to coach you on taking your impression correctly. If the impression is still not done correctly, we can send you more impression material for a nominal fee to repeat the process. This nominal fee will be credited back to your account after you pay for your aligners.

OrthoPulse® FAQs

OrthoPulse uses low intensity, near infra-red light (nlR) technology to gently facilitate tooth movement. The nlR light encourages cell metabolism and delivers energy to the bone and tissues around the tooth roots. The result: decreased discomfort and reduced treatment time by up to 50%.

OrthoPulse is clinically proven reduce treatment time by up to 50%

OrthoPulse uses state-of-the-art, near infra-red light (nlR) technology as opposed to traditional high-frequency vibration (HFV). Both treatments are FDA-cleared and proven to reduce treatment time by up to 50%. Patients often prefer OrthoPulse’s nlR over HFV, finding its treatment to be more comfortable.

Unlike traditional vibration orthodontic tools which can be uncomfortable to use, OrthoPulse uses near infra-red light (nlR) technology that has no noticeable sensation at all. It is the gentle and comfortable solution to accelerate your treatment time and reduce orthodontic discomfort.
